Concord, North Carolina

NASCAR at Concord NC
One of the quickest-growing suburbs of Charlotte real estate is Concord North Carolina.  For the last decade, the sale of homes in Concord NC has outpaced sales in the overall Charlotte-Gastonia metro area.  Concord is a convenient 20 minutes northeast of real estate in Charlotte, boasts high-performing schools, an historical downtown, and strong infrastructure.

Concord NC features a variety of real estate that ranges from historic homes to golf course homes, to affordable single family communities, to country estate properties worth millions.  After a decade of bustling real estate activity, there are old neighborhoods with mature landscaping, multifamily options, and new-home communities just sprouting.  The average price tag is in the low $200s and homes range from the low $100s into the millions.  Approximately 40 neighborhoods are involved in the popular "Partnerships for Stronger Neighborhoods" program.

The area began settling in 1750 and grew during the gold rush of 1799.  After the 1806 dispute over where to locate the county seat of Cabarrus County, Concord (meaning harmony) won.  From the cotton mills of the Cannon brothers (Cannon towels) to a Phillip Morris cigarette plant to Lowe's Motor Speedway and Concord Mills mega-mall, Concord always has something interesting happening.

Residents are proud of the community's rich history and especially historic pedestrian-friendly downtown.  One of North Carolina's most comprehensive collections of late nineteenth and early twentieth century historic districts lies along North Union, South Union and Edgewood streets.  A walking tour down Union Street sheds light on the older restored homes and Southern lore that have gathered during more than two centuries.  A collection of downtown retail stores and restaurants offers antiques, art, boutique shopping, and delectable cuisine.

With natural greenways and safe walkways and playgrounds, numerous parks, sports fields, and biking paths plus neighborhood facilities, residents always have places to be outdoors.

Downtown and the community parks really sparkle during a host of family festivals and events the fill up the community calendar.  Events include the Annual Frank Liske Park Indian Pow Wow, Art Walk, Cabarrus County Fair, Christmas Made in the South, Carolina Living Green Expo, Dog's Day Out Pet Festival, Downtown Farmers Market, Pride of the South Show, and Union Street Live.

Magnetized by the revitalization and growth, new businesses and industries are coming to town.  Low taxes are luring medical and manufacturing industries to replace the industries that have faded over time.  Yet growth is being manages to assure good infrastructure.  Residents attend Cabarrus County Schools, which are widely regarded as the best in the area.  There are also
private-school options.
